On the "hard scifi" front - Alastair Reynolds, Vernor Vinge, not forgetting Gibson and Stephenson On the wackier front - China Mieville, Charles Stross, anything by John Brunner or Philip K. Dick On the fantasy front - "Curse of Chalion" and "Paladin of Souls" by Lois McMaster Bujold, and "Ash" by Mary Gentle were entertainingly different. Oh, and anything by Chuck Palahniuk is worth a read. Hiya Damo,
